Commodity Manager Strategic Sourcing - Machining (m/f/x)

As part of one of the biggest industrial companies with operations in over 120 countries we are recruiting for the Global Headquarter of the Business Unit Drilling Services with over 9.000 employees worldwide in Celle a Commodity Manager Strategic Sourcing - Machining

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage strategic sourcing efforts with emphasis to Drilling Services (DRS) specific machining and manufacturing requirements such as BTA-/ Gun-Drilling, milling, turning, grinding, EDM, welding, head treatment, etc. but also mechanical turnkey sub-assemblies
  • Lead mechanical manufacturing sourcing related discussions and decision making with crossfunctional teams of engineering and supply chain
  • Act within a global sourcing community and represent DRS mechanical manufacturing in the sourcing matrix organization. Communicate, influence and execute with multiple sourcing peers to assist in the prioritization and management of global strategic sourcing decision
  • Translate global manufacturing strategies to DRS needs, but also develop and execute DRS tailored manufacturing strategies. May include consignment and SMI (supplier managed inventory) programs
  • New supplier development in Best Cost Countries
  • Create and respond to RFI, RFP and RFQ
  • Must drive performance and metrics associated to meet world-class levels in supplier Quality, Cost, Delivery and Service, (QCDS)
  • Must drive performance and metrics to ensure optimal inventory goals and objectives are met
  • Manage sourcing challenges such as low-volume vs. high-mix and complexity
  • Coordinate the efforts of DRS machining sourcing with goals of improving the QCDS of the supply base. Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Process Engineering and Quality on process change and develop plans for improvement and supplier partnering agreements
  • Review, analyze, develop and negotiate multiple types of procurement contracts for turnkey machining and mechanical systems
  • Review and compile inventory costing records, such as purchase price variance, (PPV), scrap and rework costs
  • Leverage and maintain a personal network in the machining supplier market and cooperate with BHGE HQ and OFS sourcing teams
  • Observe market changes caused by technical development, new manufacturing process and adjust sourcing strategy accordingly

Qualifications/Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, Materials Management and/or Supply Chain Management are preferred or equivalent experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical systems procurement, planning, strategic sourcing or supply chain. • Must demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to work across functional and organizational lines

  • Must possess the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines
  • Must possess demonstrated knowledge of mechanical manufacturing requirements and ability to assess supplier capabilities relevant to BHGE DRS business needs
  • Must possess excellent analytical-, verbal and written communication- and excellent negotiation- skills within a global environment
  • Must possess meeting facilitation experience, including structured negotiations, fact finding discussions, interview, and presentation with various organizations
  • Must possess demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII)/Master Production Schedule (MPS) process
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, influence and work well with others
  • Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks proactively and effectively
  • Highly motivated and self-directed worker
  • Must demonstrate proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel • Willingness for international business travel up to 40% of work time
